Our Time With The CYPP
Hello fellow Sprouters! How are you gorgeous people? Good, I should hope.
Sorry for my recent inactivity so let’s get straight to the point shall we? So, a couple of weeks ago (sorry for the delay in the write-up) I went, with fellow Sprouters Adam and Eric, along with our lovely Editor Arielle and accompanied by David the Great, to a meeting with the CYPP.
“The CYPP?” I hear you ask worriedly. Worry not, it’s not some evil organisation bent on Creating Yogurts with Poisonous Plums, nor does it have the task of Controlling Yachts, Parachutes and Planes. It is simply the Children and Young People’s Partnership,a strategic partnership to improve the lives of children and young people in Cardiff. The board is made up of people who run services for children and young people in Cardiff. Much cooler!
So, why did we go? Well, theSprout was commissioned by this board. So I see it only fitting that we should give them a round of applause. Everybody clap… now! However, we had our worries that the board and the people they represent might not be using theSprout to its full potential. We wanted to show them how much theSprout has changed since it started. So, we thought it wise to scurry on over and slap them with fish. However, our Editor thought this might not be taken well, so we decided instead to give them a short presentation on theSprout.
Included in this much loved, and apparently very successful presentation, was a brief intro to theSprout. We talked about how it is of benefit to young people in the sense that it provides a feeling of community amongst the young in Cardiff. It allows us to create works that we can be proud of, be they written works, videos, photos, you name it. It seemed fitting that these people should know what theSprout gets up to in its spare time, so we mentioned our newest projects, theSproutCast and the new SproutZine. We mentioned the huge benefits of such projects such as the ability to work on projects you wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to do. In short, after that very long explanation, we told them of theSprout’s awesomeness.
After that, we decided it best to inform this array of people the advantages they could take advantage of, by using theSprout. We informed them of the wide variety of organisations who use theSprout to promote their events, competitions etc. and also how those organisations are using theSprout to get information they see as vital, across to a number of young people in Cardiff.
In short: we told them that they can use theSprout to get across anything they thought interesting, necessary, witty or just plain fun.
We think they took it on board! Ha-ha, it’s funny because it’s a pun! Because they’re a board and they took it on board! I’m hilarious.

In case some of you are thinking 'what awful title? Our time with the CYPP seems very appropriate'. It's because the title's been changed :)

Hi. sorry for such a late reply to this, I've been drowned under with other work/people. The meeting did go exceptionally well, the presentation did kinda get them thinking about how they weren't using the thing they paid for efficiently and not so much as should they cut our budget. I have to say I really enjoyed the experience and was very glad to hear that councillor john dixon had tweeted saying how good it was plus the final response that was given to our lovely editor Arielle Tye :)
