Aunty Sprout: Bullied
Hello again Sprouters, I hope you're all well and ready to provide a fellow Sprouter with some advice and support!
I get bullied in and out of school.
Well Sprouters it’s over to you… if you have any advice to offer, please leave your comments below.
Or if you have a problem/question that you would like some advice on, why not share it with theSprout community? TheSprout has teamed up with Meic (the national helpline for young people), so they'll be offering their advice too.
So if you have a question that you'd like to ask, just submit it like you would an article via the submit news section with my name (Aunty Sprout) in the title or simply leave a comment on my homepage. Your entry will be anonymous, as I’ll change the name on it. Also remember to have a look at the info section. You can of course always contact Meic directly - www.meiccymru.org

Anyone experiencing bullying at school should be able to report this to a member of staff, ideally someone you trust. Every school is obliged to have an anti-bullying policy – this may be linked to the school website and should set out how the school will respond to bullying incidents. Parents can request a meeting with a member of the school management team to discuss their concerns.
If the bullying is happening out of school, you can still contact the school to make them aware of incidents involving pupils. Parents can ask schools to arrange a meeting with the Police School Liaison Officer who can help resolve issues. Bullying incidents can also be reported to the police by calling 101 and asking for the incident to be logged.
If you would like any more information, advice or support, please contact CAB on 02920 629800 and ask to speak to Liz. We can meet with you to discuss your concerns as well as contact school staff or the police on your behalf.

Thank you for contacting Aunty Sprout today it’s really good to hear from you.
It seems as though you are being bullied in and out of school. It is really good that you have had the strength to ask of for help. When we ask for help it can be the first step to either helping or possibly resolving the problem.
People can be bullied for all sorts of reasons or no particular reason at all. Sometimes people who bully others pick up on a small thing that makes someone stand out and they use it to hurt them. This might be the way someone looks, the things they like doing or even what kinds of clothes they wear.
Everyone is different, and it’s these differences that make people who they are. If you are being bullied in person or online, then you might think that it's your fault - it isn't.
Some important steps that we can take to help with bullying are:
1. Talking to an adult/helpline someone you can trust. It won’t stop unless you do. It can be hard to do this so if you don’t feel you can do it in person it might be easier to write a note to your parents/adult explaining how you feel.
2. Your form tutor needs to know what is happening, so try and find a time that is not noticeable. You could stay behind on the pretext that you want some help with work. If you don’t feel comfortable with that you may want to speak to the school nurse.
3. Ideally if a teacher can catch the bully’s red handed there will be no bother for telling tales. It will be clear what is happening and hopefully be looked into.
There are several helplines and websites that you can get further advice and help from.
MEIC is available to contact 24hrs 7 days a week to contact if you feel you would like any further help or advice. MEIC is an information, advice and advocacy service for children and young people in Wales. They can be contacted by telephone (08088023456) via text (84001) or via instant message (www.meiccymru.org). The information you give us will not be passed on unless you or someone else is in danger.
Take care of yourself
