Help Create A Magazine

Hi all. Over at Cardiff University myself and my colleagues are setting about creating a new website/magazine brand, and we need your help. It will be about gaming, film, music, online gadgetry and so on, with the purpose of being for guys aged 13 to 15. We want to try and talk to and with you as a target market, and we definitely don't want to sound patronising or, well, stupid.

So we're trying to do a bit of research. If you can answer the questions below in a comment, any info at all would be a great help, and could lead to the creation of a better site for you to enjoy. We're just trying to get a picture of our reader:

What's the first thing you switch on/log onto when you get home?
Do you have a smartphone? What are the best apps?
What films/TV shows get talked about in school?
Where do you shop?
Favourite console and game? (Don't want to start another massive Xbox vs Playstation war again!)
What music do you like - current and/or older stuff? Who?
What in life/online/generally is annoying or boring?
Which celebs are cool? Which aren't?
Girls - annoying or OK to hang around with?

Not sure if you want me to answer as I'm outside of the 13 - 15 ag range but thought I'd help out anyway.
1. My laptop.
2.HTC Wildfire. Doodlejump and Drop.
3.twilight (but we only say negative things), Harry Potter and whatever we're studying.
4.HMV. Game. Online (Amazon and Play). Waterstones etc.
5.Xbox 360 - Skyrim.
6.Pop, jazz, swing, blues, musical comedy. Tim MInchin, Lady Gaga, The Pierces, Doris Day, Jessie J, Frank Sinatra and plenty more.
7. Boring = politics, although still important. Annoying = people who impose their beliefs on others... and religion. Online annoying = adverts, but there's not much we can do about those if we want to carry on enjoying the freedom of the internet.
8.Cool = Eddie Izzard, Tim Minchin, Derren Brown, Matt Smith. Not Cool = Paris Hilton, Perez Hilton, anyone who carries a dog in their bag, Jordan (Katie Price), Kerry Katona (is that how you spell her name) and plenty of others! Oh, and Jedward and Frankie Cocozza.
9.Girls? I'm not going to answer that question as it implies all girls are the same and therefore should be decided upon as a group when the reality of it is that everybody within a category is different. Girls are no different. I thought we were past stereotypes by now. No?

Although I'm not a guy or within the target market age group, I'll answer your questions :)

What's the first thing you switch on/log onto when you get home? Facebook/twitter/bbc1

Do you have a smartphone? Yes

What are the best apps? Temple Run is my favourite at the moment. However, other good apps would have to be Doodle Jump, Angry Birds and The Sims.

What films/TV shows get talked about in school? All the recent new films that come out in the Cinema are regularly talked about, no matter what genre they may be. However, one particular film that is a popular topic would be Harry Potter - most people like Harry Potter!
In my opinion, some good TV shows (that get talked about in school) would be - Eastenders, Waterloo Road, Take Me Out, The One Show, The Simpsons, Come Dine With Me and Top Gear.

Where do you shop? Various clothes shops, HMV, That's Entertainment.

Favourite console and game? (Don't want to start another massive Xbox vs Playstation war again!): Playstation, and The Sims.

What music do you like - current and/or older stuff? Who?
I like Indie, Acoustic and some RnB music. My favourite singers would probably be Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran, Paramore, Snow Patrol and Coldplay.

What in life/online/generally is annoying or boring?
Boring things would probably (in my opinion) would be, (as said by Stormer007 - politics. Also, I also find Rugby and history quite boring.

Annoying things would have to be when people's opinions can't be heard or when you buy something and it's faulty.

Which celebs are cool? - Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran (many different artists in general)and those who are famous for making a positive difference within the world. Which aren't? -

Girls - annoying or OK to hang around with? They're great! :)

1. PS3
2. did have HTC wildfire doodle jump and angry birds ftw
3. now since being human started again that is going to be talked about mostly in school suggest watching it its amazing its on bbc three saturdays 9-10 i think :S
4. i shop at game hmv and online stores mostly (amazon)
5. playstation for life
6. i listen mostly do dubstep
